? Blood Glucose Meter ?

Hi, I'm trying to find a meter for my mother-in-law (88 yrs. old) that a nurse told us about - it's sold in Mexico - not yet approved in U.S. - which sounds like a flashlight or a light-device that reads through your finger and gives your level...anyone heard of this? Thanks.
