Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes is a form of glucose intolerance diagnosed usually during the second half of pregnancy.  During pregnancy, gestational diabetes requires treatment to normalize maternal blood glucose levels to prevent complications to the infant.  Women with gestational diabetes are more likely to have large babies.  Women with gestational diabetes have an increased chance of developing type 2 diabetes within 5 to 10 years
