I have alot in common w/you, except that I have experience one complication....retinopathy, probably due to alot of years where I couldn't get blood sugars under control. Now that I'm on an insulin pump things have improved but that also caused the retionpathy to show up. Doctors say that tends to happen when you gain control after so many years of uncontrolled blood sugars. I also drink (probably more often that advisable for diabetics) and haven't noticed any adverse effects.

Hi im 21, iv been diabetic for over a year now. Like any other 21yr old I like to go out with my mates and have a drink, I only drink lager and I hardly ever do spirits. I have had no problems at all. My sugars tend to go up to 15 then straight back down again after I stop. I dont smoke or do drugs, a nice cold beer is what I love, iv had to give up so much in my life due to being diabetci and hey no one is a saint.....but its our body and we should all treat it with some sort of respect. How much on adverage on a good night out would you guys drink, and what do you drink??????

Cheers
Rob

Hey. Im 22 and have been Type I for about 12 years now. I drink on the weekends, smoke when I drink, yet I am the same way you are. I am on the pump, so that might have something to do with it, but I feel great and have had no side effects.
